The footballer, father of four and national heartthrob graces ELLE’s July 2012 cover in a first for the magazine. There are more delectable photos of Becks inside the issue, along with an interview that shows that even globally obsessed-over stars can get a bit bashful over all the fuss. ‘How would I sum myself up? I don’t know, I prefer other people to do that,’ he says. ‘Erm... a little bit shy.’ ELLE made publishing history by deciding to feature Beckham as our first solo male cover star in anticipation of the 2012 Olympic games. ‘David Beckham is a national hero,’ ELLE Editor in Chief Lorraine Candy said. ‘He is an icon and Elle is known for featuring icons on its cover. This is a first for us on the newsstand and I believe he is loved by men and women alike.’ ‘Anyway, who doesn’t want to see a picture of one of the world’s most handsome men on the front cover of a magazine? It will be a collector’s issue.’ We're sure you’ll agree.

It will be a collector’s issue.’ Beckham is well known for being stylish - but is as equally well known for his sartorial disasters. He admitted earlier this year: ‘Me and Victoria wore matching black leather outfits once. ‘They were Versace. But that’s one when I look back and am like, ‘What were we thinking?’ ‘We laugh about that one. I remember that it’s really good until you do it as a couple. ‘I look back on some stuff and think I can’t believe I actually wore that. ‘I have no regrets, though - I knew at the time it was good.’ Describing his signature style, Beckham said earlier this year: ‘British gentleman. At my age, now, my style has gone that way; the way I dress, my hair. ‘I just think it’s a great look for a man. For me, the English gentleman look is a nice suit, nice tie, nice shoes - and I think long johns underneath.’ However, after a series of provocative photo shoots, he admitted: ‘My naked days are over.’ The full feature with David Beckham appears in the July issue of ELLE UK, on sale Wednesday 30th May

Esta es nuestra primera en salir y considero que David es un hombre muy querido tanto por mujeres como por hombres.’ ‘De todas maneras, ¿quién no quiere ver una foto de uno de los hombres más atractivos del mundo en la tapa de una revista? Será una tapa de colección.’ Beckham es reconocido por su estilo – pero tambien por sus desatinos. A principios de este año, Beckham admitió: ‘Victoria y yo usamos unos trajes de cuero hace años. Eran Versace. Recuerdo ese momento y pienso ‘En qué estabamos pensando? Ahora nos reímos. El look se ve bien pero no en dupla. Me acuerdo de algunos looks y no puedo creer que realmente me haya puesto eso. No me arrepiento – en su momento estaban bien’ Al describir su estilo particular, David dijo: ‘El de un señor inglés. A mi edad, ahora, mi estilo ha optado por ese camino; la forma en que me visto, me peino. Creo que es un excelente look para un hombre. Para mi, el estilo de un señor inglés es un buen traje, una buena corbata, un buen par de zapatos – y ropa interior larga por debajo.’ David admitió también: ‘Mis días posando desnudo se terminaron.’

David Beckham estará en los puestos el 30 de mayo en Inglaterra.
