David Beckham returned to Old Trafford on Tuesday night – and is backing Manchester United to bring the Champions League trophy back to the Theatre of Dreams too.
The former England captain believes Sir Alex Ferguson is set to mastermind a third triumph in Europe’s biggest competition during his incredible reign, after leading the club to a record 19th league title.
Beckham pulled on the United shirt for Gary Neville’s testimonial – now he believes Ferguson will have another glory night when United take on Barcelona at Wembley on Saturday, saying: “I hope we win. It is as simple as that.
“Barcelona are such a great football side, one of the best in the world. But if any club, and any manager, can beat them it is United and Sir Alex Ferguson.
“The manager continues to do it. He continues changing teams and players, yet United keep on going.
“That is why there is so much respect for him throughout the game and why he is the best manager in the world.”
