La cantante y ahora diseñadora de moda ha retado al grupo ecologista PETA con su nueva colección de bolsos realizados con piel de cocodrilo. La organización defensora de los derechos de los animales ya ha avisado que tomará acciones drásticas para transmitir a la artista cuáles son sus sentimientos sobre esto. Una fuente aseguró al Daily Mirror: “Una de las ideas que han llegado por correo electrónico es que Victoria sea cubierta con sangre animal, de vaca o lagarto, en su próxima aparición pública en Reino Unido. Otra idea enfermiza era tirarle piel de cocodrilo cuando fuera a una comida con un editor en Londres el próximo mes. Victoria trata de no rodearse de guardaespaldas pero su seguridad tiene que aumentar”.
Amigos de Victoria han declarado que creen que la artista es víctima de su propio éxito ya que su creciente fama en el mundo de la moda la deja a merced de grupos que buscan obtener notoriedad. “PETA sabe que ella tiene un perfil alto y que cualquier cosa que hagan va a tener masiva publicidad”.
El portavoz de Victoria denegó las acusaciones de crueldad y dijo que la estrella británica se asegura de que todo se ajuste a la ley.

PETA is less than pleased with the non-animal friendly direction Victoria Beckham has taken her new handbag collection — choosing to go with crocodile, lizard and calf leather skins. But are they planning on some kind of physical demonstration ala Lindsay Lohan?
“One of the ideas being mooted is that Victoria gets covered in a bucket of animal blood – cow or lizard – at her next UK public appearance,” an insider has told the Mirror newspaper. “Another rather sick suggestion was to pelt crocodile feet at her when she goes to an editors’ lunch in London next month.”
Vogue got in touch with a UK PETA rep who denied any of the above, but did say that the organization had been attempting to reach the designer.
“We don’t believe that Victoria has chosen to ignore the plight of these animals, we just worry that the information didn’t make its way to her through her labyrinth of assistants,” the rep said. “No one with an ounce of compassion could watch PETA’s footage and still promote exotic skins as accessories. With all of the luxurious, cruelty-free alternatives at her disposal, there is simply no need or excuse for Victoria to include any skins in her collection.”
