Posh Replacing Abdul on 'Idol'?
If the inclusion of the Spice Girl's name makes you think we're playing 'One of These Things is Not Like The Other,' you're not alone. News that Posh Spice will bemaking a "one-off appearance" as a guest judge on "American Idol's" ninth season has left me flabbergasted.
Granted the Spice Girls were a global phenomenon and Victoria was a part of that, but she had as much to do with the success of that group as Justin Jeffre did for 98 Degrees. You could have glammed up five trannies (still not convinced they didn't), put them in platform sneakers and "Wanna Be" still would have sold a billion copies.
The announcement's timing -- one day after this -- will inevitably lead to endless speculation about why guest judges are being brought in when "getting back to the three judge format" was an excuse bandied about in regards to Paula Abdul's exit.
