The award is only given to players at least 29-years-old.Serie A has dominated the list of nominees this season, with six of the ten plying their trade in Italy.The potential winners include well-known veterans from around Europe and are Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Luis Figo (Portugal) Steven Gerrard (England), Ronaldinho (Brazil), Ryan Giggs (Wales), Thierry Henry (France), Raul Gonzalez Blanco (Spain), Francesco Totti (Italy), David Trezeguet (France), and David Beckham (England).
