Known for her patronage of boutiques in Milan and Rodeo Drive, Victoria Beckham has now provided a timely boost to the business of a Cumbrian cloth maker.
Mandrake hears that David Beckham's wife, who unveiled her latest collection in New York this week, sourced the fabric she is using for her designer frocks – which retail for up to £4,900 – from the Carlisle firm Linton Tweeds.
Her spokesman will not say in which of the 23 creations the fabric was used. However, Victoria's latest designs include a number of dresses and a range of cape-style coats.
It is thought that the Linton fabric, black tweed with a rubber yarn through it, may have been used to create one of these.
